The Lebron James Book List

After hearing that Miami Heat basketball star Lebron James had started reading books before playoff games as a form of meditation – to calm himself  and to avoid tweeting and watching television, I wondered what books he was reading.

His list includes:

  • The Hunger Games
  • The Fighter’s Mind
  • Shogun
  • The Post-American World
  • West by West
  • The Tipping Point
  • Decoded

Lebron noted:

“So the reading has given me an opportunity to, just for those couple hours of the day or those 20 minutes, 25 minutes before the game, an opportunity just to read and think about something else and get a sense of what else is going on besides the game of basketball. It’s made me comfortable. I’m not saying it’s the trick. It’s just something that I decided to do at the beginning of the postseason, and it’s worked for me.”

It worked for the playoffs too – the Miami Heat won!

As a Clevelander it is hard to like LeBron for any reason, but I will give him credit for this. Making books cool.

Don’t forget “The Pact”. It’s about 3 friends that make a pact to stay in school and become doctors.
