Every four years a leap day tacked on to balance the calendar gives us more time. What will you do with your extra day this year? Some ideas:
Ferenc C. Veradi’s new book – 1944 a Leap Year – (published yesterday) documents leap year in 1944 – “the most horrible year in the twentieth century.” One of my favorite book stores, Politics and Prose, posted a summary of the story of two Hungarian boys during World War II (read their information here).
For children, Stephanie Bee Simmons offers Leap’s Day – a fun way to learn about the quirk in the calendar, especially if it’s your birthday.
